Souls Tree v0.2 available now!


Hey guys, this is Fede from Wicked Games.

Souls Tree version 0.2 is now available!

It's been two months since our first release of Souls Tree. Since then, 68 people downloaded our game and we are truly thankful to each one of them.  Version 0.1 was rough around the edges, but we needed to publish the game. We had been working on this project for about a year and we needed your feedback to help us shape the future of Souls Tree.

Version 0.2 main changes:

1. Tick based combat and movement

As we work towards gameplay that feels more tactical, we've decided to change from real-time movement and combat to a tick based approach. This gives players more time to think about their decisions and makes gameplay a lot more clear.


Some key changes:

- Enemies no longer group up in the same tile. This also means enemies can temporarily get stuck.
- Melee units now attack the tile in front of them (previously they would wait for enemies to arrive at their tile to start fighting).
- Levels and stats needed to be rebalanced. 

2. Map Events, Relics and Curses.

As we work towards a more Rogue-like experience, we needed to add variability to our runs. This is why we are now adding random Map Events that give the player more agency towards the run. The player can now gain relics and curses, which benefit or hinder the player as well as sacrifice or gain new units.


3. Music and UI sfx.

We know sound is crucial for games, and we are working hard to make unique music and sfx for Souls Tree. To kick things off, we've added music to our game and the sfx to all UI elements.
